Reactions of Organic Compounds with Dissociation of N–N Bonds

M. F. Marshalkin, L. N. Yakhontov

All-Union Scientific Research Chemical-Pharmaceutical Institute, Moscow
Abstract: Reactions involving the dissociation of single N–N bonds which have been carried out during the last decade and which are important for organic chemistry are surveyed. New data on the reductive cleavage of such bonds, various rearrangements, N–N bond dissociation reactions with simultaneous N-alkylation, and thermal, electrochemical, and photochemical processes are examined. Attention is concentrated on fundamentally new reactions, on studies of the reaction mechanisms, and on the development of methods extending the preparative scope of organic synthesis.
