Boundaries of thermal explosion degeneration in a flow system in the presence of a supplementary heat source
I. G. Dik Tomsk
Abstract:
Conditions for thermal explosion in a reactor with ideal mixing are considered. The system of equations takes into account the nonisothermal first-order chemical reaction, the presence of a nonchemical heat source, heat removal at the wall, and the finite time of reactant residence in the reactor. The general conditions for degeneration of thermal explosion independent of the nature of the nonchemical heat release are determined. Special attention is paid to the cascade where viscous dissipation is a supplementary heat source. The regimes with the given pressure drop and reactant flow are studied. The conditions under which the curve of critical intensity of chemical reaction versus flow rate or pressure loses its nonmonotonic character due to onset of conditions of thermal explosion degeneration are noted.
